Colonial Retreat

Our last day in Washington and a few hours of travel ahead.
A beautiful sunny day and DC was looking beautiful, I am really going to miss it.
We took a cab to Union Station to pick up the hire car. I always order a mid-size compact, and I always end up with something bigger, so it was no surprise to be driving off in a Jeep Patriot.
Inevitably, we got lost in downtown DC, but after a stressful twenty five minutes we were on our way heading towards Pennsylvania.

As our trip will be bookended by DC and Philly, we decided to take it down a notch in between and go for something more relaxing.
We are staying in the Bedford Springs resort hotel in PA, a very smart place with loads of history. There is plenty opportunity for long walks and still have access to some good food. So tonight we were quite happy to have a nice meal and then chill out with the other guests around the fire pit.

(I am not the first person from Dunfermline to have stayed here.....Andrew Carnegie has signed his name in the historic ledger :-)
