Orange Sulphur Butterfly

I checked out the diagram of butterflies at Brookside Gardens today, and learned that there are a handful that continue to visit into October, and some even November.  This Orange Sulphur is one of them.  I also ran into the Monarch Tagger.  An elderly gentleman with a jaunty cap was walking around with a butterfly net.  I asked him if he was looking for monarchs.  Sure enough, he has been working as a volunteer to tag them.  He's a semi-retired Emergency Room physician.  He said that four of his tags have been reported to have reached Mexico in the few years he's been involved with this hobby.  So I guess the tagged butterflies I've seen at the gardens originated there.  Safe travels south!
