Diary of an Edinburgher

Nice Day Four

Our last day, but as we didn't leave till late evening, we could call it a whole day.

My good idea for today was to go up to the top of castle hill for the views. There are hundreds of steps, and even the sight of them made me queasy. But no! There was a solution for those unable to use the steps - un ascenseur, a free lift! What a jolly good idea.

We made our way there, back through the park and the spurting fountains. I didn't really get any shots of them in action yesterday, preferring the reflections.

It was cloudy today, but actually very pleasant. And the misty spurts were on - didn't see them yesterday. Another good excuse to sit and watch for a while.

Arrived back at the market, which today was bric-a-brac. Ridiculous prices! I sat and had a coke while JR perused every single stall.

A Swedish lady joined us and we had a good chat - she was a dog owner too, and was missing her pooch. We saw two black schnauzers and a grey one like Archie, but a bit darker. And I have to say, we haven't seen any dog poo!

We eventually arrived at the lift to the top of the hill, only to find it SHUT! Bad words were said. The view will have to wait.

We popped back to the hotel to pick up our bags, and headed out to the airport plenty early.

The flight was delayed. We were all lined up, ready for boarding, but the plane hadn't actually landed. EasyJet... We were an hour late, so we're just home at 1am. It was a great holiday, Nice is beautiful, but I wouldn't want to do that flight again. It's good to be home.

We'll pick up Archie tomorrow.
