A Window To The World

These bedroom windows are really fun to shoot.

After breakfast we actually used the car and went up the hill.
It probably would have been safer using the funicular railway but then I wouldn't have been able to stop and get some pictures or have oh so nearly 'met' with theses lunatic locals who hare round blind hairpin bends on the wrong side of the road .... they really are fecken mental!

However, we did make it up to the wee village on the top of the hill where we visited the church (built before the Norman conquest of Britain - which wasn't yesterday!) and the clock tower with only 6 hours marked on it.
We also watched the fog/mist/clouds clearing and had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

At lunchtime - which runs between 1pm & 4pm (some places stretch it out and extra half hour at each end) we had a wander around and had the most wonderful gelato and coffee.

Our evening meal was a bit of a hoot.
We think the new staff members had been left in charge to see what would happen - or not happen!
First, they don't serve food until after 7.30pm (despite serving food & drink all day)...... which might account for them only having one portion of salad.
They had no wine listed (despite the stack of bottles behind the counter) but were able to produce a couple of glasses when pushed.
Bread and olive oils appeared by magic but plates to put them on were in such short supply that they seemed to have problems finding any when asked (we obviously got the only 2 because nobody else got any). maybe they were worried about the oil running off the plates because the floor was on about a 10degree slope.
But the food (when it arrived) was very good and very filling.
I think the best way to describe the experience was 'quirky' but not un-enjoyable.
Which is more that can be said about the pianist playing in the hotel lounge when we got back. He uses the Eric Morcambe system of piano playing ........... all the right notes - just not necessarily in the right order.

Todays mixed bag of morsels for your delectation start .........HERE
