In search of the elusive moose

We have been searching for Mr. Moose since we arrived in New England, using sighting maps to increase our chance of success. Vermont and New Hampshire let us down. So today, we went to the Moosehead Lake area in the Maine Highlands and got serious with our hunt. The literature we picked up at the visitors' center proclaimed that in this region, there are three moose for each person. We were excited and planned to find at least six. Then we came upon the sign in my photo and our hopes were dashed. Then, just about sunset as we came to the end of the moose sighting trail, we found HIM! Unfortunately, he was standing at the far side of the bog so you will have to take my word that he was a lovely, large adult male moose!
