Diary of an Edinburgher

Jet Lag? What's that?

Still glowing from the Business Class Experience. There is only one correct answer to

'Would you like champagne before your breakfast?'

JR, when she'd been arranging the change of flights and trying to keep the upgrade, told them it was her birthday, which it was, on the day we were supposed to fly. So Emirates arranged for an in-flight cake. A nice gesture (surpassed by the surprise bonus upgrade from Bangkok, which was what JR was angling for). But, to be honest, a cake is the last thing you want when just sitting for hours on a plane being fed frequent delicious meals. We took it home. In the chauffeured limousine - ie taxi to those not in Business Class.

Did I mention the massage seat? The 'Wave' setting is excellent - just goes up and down the whole seat and provides endless fun.

Back to auld claes indeed. I've spent an hour on the phone to the Pensions folk. I thought this was sorted and I would soon be in receipt of regular, though modest, amounts of money as a reward for working all my life and paying taxes.

No. A slight hiccup. In the question 'When would you like these payments to start?' I had put Dec 2012. Just a random date. I thought it might be nice to start getting it round about Christmas time. WRONG!!!! Apparently I am not allowed to put a claim in more than 4 months before the start date.

I have a letter from them saying '... we cannot deal with your claim' and they sent a big booklet which tells me all about making a claim. I spoke to someone today and asked if they could just change the date on my claim to say, August 2012.

Oh no! This is some sort of crime. Punishable by death at least, from her reaction to my perfectly sensible suggestion. I will have to fill out another claim. It is being sent. *Sigh*

Just answered the phone. 'Hello it's Stephanie here from Viagra Therapy'
'Viagra Therapy?'
'No, Niagra Therapy. It been reported that someone in your house has health problems'
'NO. Go away!' Well, I didn't actually say the last bit.

Went into town to get my first Edinburgh blip for many a week. One of life's little pleasures was to use my Bus Pass again - once I'd located the secret place I put it in. The Royal Mile was hoachin'. Exciting blip-ortunities at every turn! Camera on. Nothing. Flat battery. Back home to charge it.

Another of life's little pleasures - people watching while waiting for a bus. This is always entertaining as you get the odd strange person. But in Festival time, you get the odd normal person...
