Ludmila The Russian Spy
The train service redeemed itself today when we went back into Florence.
Apparently there were emergency repairs being carried out on the line somewhere yesterday......... so the lady we helped to buy her tickets (the sales office was shut for some reason) told us and also, there is to be a train strike tomorrow. Just like being at home then! I am glad we have no plans for tomorrow.
Today was a day of culture so that SWMBO could see David - the real one in the museum and not the copy out in the piazza.
We shelled out for a guided tour which meant we got without having to queue for a couple of hours and also got the benefit of an art history lesson into the bargain.
What I will say is, David is a big lad (7m) so Goliath must have been enormous! ..... and he has hands the size of shovels.
We found another interesting place for lunch where Ludmila the Russian spy was holding court for the rest of the spies under her charge.
Boris "The Bear" and Ivan "The Terrible" were knocking back the Grappa like there was no tomorrow so I didn't think it prudent to photograph them.
I failed miserably to get a snap through the train window of the old, rusting steam trains in a siding I am afraid - so I cheered myself up by going up to the local Gelatoria for a coffee and a tub of the best ice-cream in Italy (which therefor means 'in the world').
