The Crowstone

Walking along the beach at Chalkwell today allowed me to snap the Crowstone which was erected in 1837 and replaced a smaller stone that was there from 1755, and it marks the limit  of the Port of London Authority's jurisdiction along the Thames Estuary.  Interesting article about the history of it all is here http://www.southendtimeline.com/crowstone.htm
