Behind him is the Corn Exchange and one of the four 'nails' which were used by the corn merchants for slapping down their money bags for their purchases - hence 'paying on the nail'.

Am not happy with my elderly point and shoot - but that is all I have until somebody decides whether the 5th repair to my camera is justified.
