Classic Rome

A day in the city, ouff, exhausted! We were heading back for the train when the bus got stuck in a traffic jam but luckily we just got off the bus in time to see the night sky over the river Tiber, silhouetting St. Peter's Basilica in the distance. They say that, in ancient times, violence and intrigue were so rife in the "Holy City", that bodies floating down the Tiber were a common sight. Nowadays, the Tiber is a haven of peace and tranquility, though just a stone's throw from the centre of this beautiful, noisy, bustling city (see extras).

A few more photos on Flickr that I couldn't upload last night or this morning, if you are interested.
