Snow on the Simplon Pass

You have to cross at least one pass to drive south from Switzerland and we knew the Simplon would be open as it is the only one that is always kept clear of snow. Now, after a 12 hour drive, we are just north of Rome in warmer climes thank goodness. I am not keen on waking up in a cold camping van!
