Exeter Canal
We were out early today with the local bird watching group. It was a cold but sunny morning and we were walking around the Exminster Marshes. We were quite a large group and at one point were staring into the distance along a railway bridge where we were mistaken for train spotters. We wandered across the marshes towards the Exeter Canal spotting Curlew, Godwits, Canadian Geese, Brent Geese and Swans. This shot was taken at the point where we met up with the Exeter Canal. The canal runs alongside the River Exe in this area and I think there may be or was in the past a way into the river shown in the far distance of this shot.
We continued walking along the canal footpath and at one point I watched as a Heron flew over our group who were all looking in the other direction. This Heron landed in the field and then a few minutes later crept past the backs of some of the group, see extra.
After a stop at the Turf Hotel it was back across the fields to the cars spotting some Fieldfayre, various Ducks including a Tufted one and a gang of Long Tailed Tits.
A pleasant mornings outing.
