Purple Sunbird(Cinnyris Asiatics)
The Purple Sunbird is a small bird and like other Sunbirds they feed mainly on nectar, although they will take insects, especially when feeding young. The males can look almost purply black, but in the right light their beautiful, purple, green, turquoise iridescence to their feathers becomes visible. From this photograph you would think that I had got the identification of this bird very wrong, but this is definitely a female Purple Sunbird with more olive, brown and yellow than her show off husband's plumage!
