Unexpected but amazing
This morning involved a bit of a lie in, cannonballing in the living room (basically jumping around to music!) and a late brunch.
Faye and I took the boys out this afternoon to a fabulous place called The Coolings, which I think is in Knockholt.
There is now a Birds of Prey/Falconry group located there and we were fortunate to have timed our visit so that we saw the falcons flying and owls being shown in the woods. Faye and I both got to wear the gauntlet glove and have one of the falcons fly to us.
A little later, after cake, ice lollies and ginger beer (gosh, I went a little bit Enid Blyton there for a second) we wandered back into the woods to go and see the owls that had been brought out of the aviaries. D was really interested and was able to have two different owls on his gloved arm (and Faye and I also got in on the action). J was nervous, so we didn't push it.
All in all, a fab afternoon, tramping around the woods, kicking leaves and making the most of the chilly but clear autumnal weather.
Now, fighting the urge to fall asleep.
There are some additional shots on the extras of some of the different birds that we saw today. Absolutely beautiful creatures.
