Lanky Lad
Ah'm a gradely lad from Lancashire
Bolton born and bred
So let's have no chat abeawt white rose
Th'only proper'n's red!
Ah knows that the battles were over
A reet long time gone
Bu'r as far as us 'ere are concerned
It's still gooin' on
Th'only good thing abeawt Yorkshire
Is t'road comin' out
Burra suppose they 'ad the odd cricketer
As could gi' ball a clout
They's also gorra few gud lads on th'oche
As can chuck an arrer reet
Burra 'm not that'appy wi' them tha' knows
As ah'd want me dowter to meet
Then there's them great moors o'er theer
Nigh on as good as ours
An' you should see their dirty great waterfalls
How that watter pours
They can almost mak' a dacent tastin' cuppa
Wi that tae o' theirs
Bu'r if one o' them tight fists bought a round
A'd go t' foot of our stairs
So y' see as we'll allus continue to rage
'Tween roses, reds an' whites
Just as long as is stuck up there between us
Those gradely Pennine heights
