In search of rock art
Aargh! This was the entry for yesterday, taken on Sun. 23 October - didn't realise that the photo has somehow (incorrectly) re-dated itself until attempting to post an entry for 'today' (24th).
Morning spent cleaning, tidying and preparing food, as you do when you’re expecting guests but, unfortunately, not enough time to tackle the little bit of painting I’d intended to do.
A walk on Weetwood Moor in the afternoon with Cheryl and Ed – who wanted to see the cup and ring marks there – and, of course, Dolly, their dog. Not a long walk, but much too far for Louie, so he stayed at home on guard duty. As we walked along the track, MrM spotted a red squirrel in a tree – it had a nut in its mouth, probably a sweet chestnut, as the ground under the chestnut tree was covered in them.
Rainbows and dramatic skies as we approached the rocks with cup and ring marks (Extra, and 'yesterday'). The black clouds in the Blip were coming towards us and, though it didn’t rain for long, our trousers were soaked through by the time we got back to the car! Never mind – back to the flat to change into dry legwear (luckily Cheryl is about the same size as me) and for a meal – MrM had made a delicious curry which was waiting in the slow cooker…
Today's photo (24th) is now the 2nd extra! This cute little bird was flitting about on the Common late this afternoon. Think it's a juvenile dunnock, but not certain.
