At 5.30am this morning when Gavin was going for his morning run with Murdoch, he witnessed a car speeding up our road past our house in what looked like a high speed car chase. As he turned the corner he heard an almighty bang and what sounded like gun shots - it quite possibly wasn't gun shots but it did sound like them. The driver lost control and crashed on to the pavement, taking out both the BT communications box and a few metres on, the Virgin Media communications box before crashing into the letter box. Thanks to him we have no phone lines or internet in the entire area.

I went up the road to see the Virgin Media telephone engineers to query when our lines would be fixed - four to five days if they can get it right! They told me that the driver has been arrested as there is more to this case than meets the eye, something about a domestic issue. His range rover is totally destroyed and the tyres look like they have all burst and have even come off the wheel rims - were they possibly shot?

So I am uploading this by using the 3G on my phone as a hotspot. Just when I was looking forward to having my super fast broad band after being away last week and using iffy wifi, I find I am once again having to make a plan to use the internet.
