must try harder

Look into my eyes....

Apparently, Charles Darwin discussed the peacock's display of colour in the Origin of the Species concluding it was all part of the sexual selection process, a conclusion we seem to find difficult to disprove or disagree with.

What is less apparent is that biologists appear to be divided in opinion on it's specific purpose. The long standing theory is that the display attracts the female. However, modern thinking is that it has always been more about warding off other males.

All I know, is that this one we saw started his dance of love as we turned the corner and the female couldn't have been less interested. So who chooses who, I'm not sure, but it did jog a memory or two!!
