Winner

Thanks to middleman for the Fatima Mansions acknowledgement in Loser.

For every loser there's often a winner, in this case some kind of bird of prey. Most likely a Sparrowhawk, though potentially one of our resident Tawnies or even the Barn Owl that's been quartering our meadows for the last couple of weeks. Carcass found next to our front hedge, at the top of our front meadow, surrounded by a mass of plucked feathers. Interesting that the lungs (and much else!) have been eaten, and yet the heart is intact (and incidentally there's plenty of breast meat left.) Coincidentally me 'n' S will be having leftover Paprikash of Heart tonight, made on Monday from 3 hearts of Merlin, Barney, Jake, Storm or Shadow (May 19th refers.)

The leftover Woody has been put below a tree where I've just found 5 fresh owl pellets, and the Trail Camera is in position to capture what might happen! Stay tuned to see what carnivore might turn up in the night...
