Hot Mandarins

Hubby and I went to Sole-Felsen-Bad, the local day spa and sauna in Gmünd for the day. We haven't been for months and I felt Hubby needed a bit of relaxation after all his hard work in the yard over the last few weeks. These thermal baths are huge in Austria and there are many which use the natural hot springs. There are no hot springs near us so the water is salted and heated on site. This particular spa has exceeded expectations in its popularity and can be very crowded in the sauna area. They keep expanding the facilities from time to time to keep up and also to provide a unique experience. There are 6 different themed saunas and a steam room. They have regular Aufguß where various herbal/aroma infusions are poured over the hot coals. This is performed by the staff, often with much flair, as they direct the heat over the participants with a heavy towel. There is a salt scrub sauna for exfoliation which can be followed by a honey sauna to soften the skin. As far as I know these controlled saunas are quite unusual which explains the popularity of the Gmünd Spa.
We were lucky today as it wasn't very crowded and the place looked a picture nestled in amongst the golden autumn trees by the lake. Our first sauna of the day was the 'Vitamin Bomb' in the Panorama sauna which is built like a log cabin with a glass front on a hill overlooking the trees and the lake. There were 2 infusion of mandarin then a break in the fresh air and some fresh fruit to eat. Back inside the second aroma was prickly pear. I have never had prickly pear but it smelt delicious - like toffee apple. This is supposed to followed by a dip in ice cold water but I skipped that and went straight to the warm shower. I could go on and on but I will spare you that and post a link if you are interested.
For my Hot Mandarins I used the Multiple Exposure facility in my camera for the first time, added a filter and adjusted the colour sliders. Thanks to youoregon1, who is taking a break from hosting, for this great challenge.
