Marmalade!
Phil and I cannot do without proper marmalade, and used to make forays into British Columbia to buy half a dozen jars at a time, until we discovered a local source -- Trader Joe's -- and now we go there four or five times a year to stock up.
Wanting to make the most of our morning together today, we deposited our election ballots in the drop box downtown, had a "cooked breakfast" at a cafe near Trader Joe's, and then enjoyed perusing the shelves, especially as today was National Beer Day, an excuse for Phil to add to his inventory.
Each Trader Joe's reflects its locale; ours honors the wild salmon that grace our rivers (and plates), as seen in today's blip. The mural is the first thing you see when you walk in the store, and given Phil's years of volunteer work with NSEA (Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association), one that has a special meaning for us.
(Five jars of marmalade now are ensconced in our pantry, which should get us through early 2017...)
