A very Glasgow evening

(This is a back blip for reasons that will appear later)

I never expected to find myself caught up in a Justin Beiber concert (“whose that?” asked M).

Well, last night we were in Glasgow and discovered it was virtually impossible to get a taxi- all were en route to the Justin Beiber concert and we were trying to get to a much more sedate event- a poetry and musical evening hosted by my friend and former colleague Lesley Duncan.

Lesley decided to celebrate her 20 years as Poetry Editor of The Herald where she has a daily column of a Poem-A-Day with a birthday party in the Glasgow Art club.

The event itself was everything I expected- a conivial evening with old (and new) friends, lot of music, poetry food and drink.

Some years ago one new Editor decided to abolish the Poem-a –day feature but he had to re-instate Lesley as a result of a public petition!

Getting home proved tricky: due to engineering works and delayed trains we missed the last connection that day and ended up doing the final 20 miles by taxi paid for by Scotrail.
Other guests coming from Edinburgh were warned they would be decanted half way and would finish their journey by bus. So we arrived home well after midnight.

It was a very Glasgow evening.
