Day 305 of 366 - Leicester's Gatehouse!
The image today was taken this evening in the Warwickshire town of Kenilworth. The view is of Leicester's Gatehouse which is part of Kenilworth Castle. This building dates back to 1571 and was constructed by Robert Dudley the Earl of Leicester. The purpose of this building was to give access to the Hunting park which Dudley had made for one of the visits by Queen Elizabeth I. It is well known that Dudley was one of the Queen's favourites, that is probably why she visited and stayed at Kenilworth Castle on four separate occasions during her reign.
The photo was taken using the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.
First I used the app Snapseed to edit the photo. I Straightened the picture and applied the Tonal Contrast preset. I then Sharpened the image and boosted the Contrast, Saturation and Warmth. I then decreased the Ambiance, Highlights and Shadows. I finally applied the Vintage 5 preset. Next I used the app Lens Distortions to apply the Fog number 5 layer, I moved the effect to the lower part of the image to help give a misty look to the picture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Soft Light preset, the Vibrant FX and a Large Dark Vignette. I then applied the Shadow II frame.
