Why did I come in here?

By Bootneck

Not long now little one

This collared dove, or "CushyDoo" as it's named in the Doric of NE Scotland, is not long for this mortal coil. For a week or so it has spent hours trying to feed itself beneath the bird feeders. Unfortunately it appears to have succumbed to a disease which dirty bird feeders help spread. The throat and mouth become inflamed, legs turn scaly and the weight falls off the bird very quickly. Death by starvation. I have tried to capture it to do a bit of euthanising but it can still see, so my efforts so far have been in vain. Once the eyes gum over I'll do the decent thing.

Please keep your feeders clean.
