Decisions, decisions...

I made a decision last night. On Monday I was going to get the overnight train from Budapest to Ljubljana. The train leaves Budapest at 19.10 and arrives in Salzburg at 01.26. I'd then have 8 minutes (assuming that train was on time) to find the next train to Ljubljana, which would arrive at 05.56 on Tuesday. Then I'd have to hang around until lunchtime to check into my hotel and spend the rest of the day - and no doubt that evening - feeling like poo. Or I could leave Budapest a few hours earlier and check into the hotel I stayed in last week in Salzburg, then go on to Ljubljana early on Tuesday morning, arriving at lunchtime and having the rest of the day to explore. Which is what I decided to do.

It's quite difficult to plan a trip like this in some ways - you end up in places you wouldn't have gone to, and perhaps staying somewhere for longer than you expected. And when you get to a train station and look at the departures board, you see where you could have gone and how you could have improved your trip. I wish I'd had the nerve to do that - turn up somewhere and decide then where to travel to, but unfortunately that level of spontaneity is beyond me ;-)

Anyway, I decided to have a look around Brno today - and book a seat on the train to Budapest tomorrow, which I forgot to do when I got here. I forewent the tram and walked in. It isn't a very pretty place, though it has its share of baroque churches. And more than its share of Ferrari's... This morning I saw 3 within the space of about an hour (of course, they could be Brno's only Ferrari's...).

Had a bit of a wander round and treated myself to a 10 quid bottle of verbena shower gel from L'Occitane - well I'm a clean girl and I've run out of the (admittedly much cheaper) stuff I brought with me! - and the now obligatory iced coffee (no ice cream though!), and sat in the square in the sunshine. On the bench next to mine was a beautiful young Czech girl - slim, long tanned legs, long dark hair and pouty lips - with a face like a smacked arse. I was going to join her in that funk - feeling rather fat and frumpy next to her - but the thought of someone showing up, wet kipper in hand (and no, that's not a euphemism...) snapped me out of that. As did the thought that I could instead (and should, by rights) be sitting at a desk watching the rain pour down and dealing with some arrogant trade union pleb :-) Anyway, gorgeous girl's phone rang and she cheered right up, you'll be relieved to hear.

I've been back in the park this evening with a picnic tea, though it clouded over. Still lovely and warm though - there were families, dog walkers, cyclists, people playing frisbee and badminton (net and all) and some odd game which involved throwing sticks to knock over wooden blocks. And someone somewhere providing an accompaniment on the bongos. I found myself missing my woods - no frisbees or bongos, but still a lovely place to be on an evening.

Back in the room now to pack and cut up the rest of my watermelon - I went a bit mad at the fruit market today, considering I'm travelling again tomorrow!

Sbohem x

D'you know what, I feel like I've become a bystander in other people's lives. Think I might see if there's anything going on in Budapest that floats my boat - any suggestions?...
