On the road again...

Today I've travelled south again, (from what the forecast says) back to warmer climes. Prague was the nothernmost point of my trip, and I'm heading now towards the eastern edge of the map - Budapest.

But first, the delights of Brno. According to my map from reception, there are 16 of them, not including theatres, museums and art galleries. I was planning to spend tomorrow in the park on the end of the road, but might have to review!

The train down was another with compartments (that's the word I couldn't remember on Monday), and a very helpful older Czech gentleman lifted my heavy bag onto the overhead luggage rack (there's nowhere else to store luggage) for me, whilst two teenage Korean boys sat and watched... And he lifted it down again too, bless him.

Another repetition of the other day was a man pretending to be a dog with its head out of window - for the whole 3 hour journey! He did have some stains on the seat of his trousers, which may have been why he was standing the whole time... I found myself hoping that the stains meant he'd made an unfortunate seating choice, rather than something less savoury ;-)

After doing a lot of washing (which I didn't have time to do in Munich and couldn't be arsed doing in Prague) and a reviving cup of lemon and lime zest tea (liberated, I think, from the posh hotel in Venice) I headed out to explore the leafy streets.

Didn't go far though - just round the block and to get water. The shop owner didn't speak English and, as I've noted before, my Czech is limited to a few words. He said "Sprechen Sie deutsch?", I said "Ja, aber nur ein bißchen", so we settled on German! I knew that education would come in handy!

And I've spent the past hour or so lying on the grass in the park, reading and watching the world go by. There's a children's playground just over the way but it's quiet so far. And some kind soul has put a stripy jumper on a tree aww.

A quiet night in tonight I think - might see if I can find the True Movie channel again. It's full of dreadful made-for-tv movies but at least I can understand them, and on occasion I crave a bit of English. Heh, I feel like I've just admitted to something socially unacceptable there... I'll let you decide what, though I've got my own ideas :-)
