Torre degli Asinelli

A two hour drive, aided by a rather impatient sat nav, brought us to the lovely City of Bologna. This tower is one of its features.  It is 97.6 metres high and leans 1.3 metres off vertical, as can be seen in this shot taken from the roof of our hotel. Another similar tower - Torre Garisenda - is shorter but tilts by 3.2 metres. Ha - take that Pisa!

Also today, I enjoyed some signage; the colourful, vibrant University District; Bologna's magnificent porticos including one with an obvious professor; and the grand Bibliotecca Communal dell Archiginnasio with its splendid Anatomical Theatre.

Clearly there is a lot to see over the next two days.
