Lecture

Our lovely friend Catherine Roque who owns the spectacular Domaine du Clovallon invited us to an evening of music, picnics, wine and a talk by Jean-Claude Carriere.
We parked in a field and then lugged our picnic and chairs for, well, quite a way really, turned a corner and discovered enchantment. J-C C is a screenplay writer, notably with Luis Bunuel, and has co-written masterpieces like "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie" and "That Obscure Object of Desire." Despite this starry CV he was, on the night, a man in his homeland in a sentimental mood, but that didn't detract from the sheer loveliness of being in a beautiful place in the south of France at an unexpected event on a beautiful night having the best of times with fantastic friends.
Lucky, lucky us.
