Day 249- Aileron/Barrow creek/devils marbles/Banka

On the road again....driving cross the tropic of Capricorn, our first stop was Aileron, so a cute little stop. It is famous for there huge aboriginal statues. The father is a huge status on top of the hill and the mother and child is in the yard. They had a little art gallery full of aboriginal artwork which was cool. They also have the most famous kangaroo here, apples. The kangaroo that humps the pig 'fuck it.' He is 9 years old and apples and his kangaroo partner kept returning to Aileron, became part of the community. But when Apple's partner past away he got very sad so they gave him a piggy best friend called fuck it. Except Apple's decided to become friends with benefits. Haha only in Australia. Petrol stop at ti- tree, which is home to the most central pub in Australia. For lunch we spent it at barrow creek, what an amazing little shack. The guy in there knows everything about every country and the cabin is full wall to floor of different souveniours from passeners that have past through from passport photos, ids, every currency note to bras and shoes. He also had snakes in jars that he had caught from being on the property, including a brown. I went to the loo and as I lifting the seat a huge brown spider decided to say hello haha. Such a great place. It is what the film wolf creek was based on, when Murdock shot a backpacker and zip tied his girlfriend. But the girlfriend managed to get away in 2001. Cheeky stop at Wycliffe well, the ufo centre of Australia.. oooooo! On to devil's marbles, it is really strange how they have weathered into the shapes they are. And one of the marbles is perfectly split in half. There are also white gum trees around the marbles and if you put your ear up to it (up to month or so after rain) you can hear the water trickling inside the tree. Petrol stop at threeways the only time 3 roads meet one to the west, one to Queensland and Stuart highway, then off to camp and Banka Banka. Definately the nicest camp we have stayed on so far and there was even little tents with deck chair beds inside so that was nice. Kathy our tour guide made dinner, best dinner on the trip! I shared a tent with Laura and Nikki, they are both hilarious, up laughing a hour after everyone went to bed.No one slept to well, so hot in the tents, but mossi and his mates joined if you opened the door and then the wind started least we're all in the same boat! Haha great day with some amazing stops.
