Finally made it......
to Gladders and Gus's Arnisde :-)))

It wasn't a planned visit, we just ended up there......having decided to go out "somewhere" together today, after my recent trips over to mums. Hub and I set off in the car in the general direction of the Lake District, knowing that the weather forecast for today was good.
We met a lovely couple recently whilst in Tenerife, who also live in Arnside, so when we parked up on the promenade we decided it would be rude not to let them know we were in their neck of the woods. Sod's law, when they rang back, they were in their car heading up the motorway in the opposite direction, we must have passed each other......never mind, next time we will make proper plans :-)
We walked along the front, then up a steep path that brought us out by St James Church, along a row of bungalows then back down besides The Albion Hotel, which our friends had said did good food, but we decided we liked the look of "The Bakehouse" cafe for lunch. We had homemade minced steak and onion pie, with mushy peas and gravy with a cup of tea. Best pies we've had for ages!!!
We were going to share some chips too, but hub noticed they had Bread and Butter pudding with custard on their specials board, so we shared one of those instead, absolutely delicious!
After that we headed off for a decent walk along the edge of the estuary......lots of people doing likewise. We watched a fisherman catch what looked like a mackerel followed by a large flat fish, guessing plaice or sole.....they went straight into his bag ;-)
I took a lot of different shots and having uploaded them, it's fascinating to look at the differing light that had occurred during the 4 or 5 hours we were there........I was hoping for a sunset but the cloud built up late afternoon.
As you can see from this shot there were hints of colour..... both hub and I chose this shot independently from the 30/40 I took ;-)
It is a beautiful place, I can see why Gladders and our friends love the area. We did pick up a property newspaper, just out of interest obviously ;-)
Once we got back to the car we followed the signs up to the Knot, but it was getting dark so that's a walk for another day, another visit, of which there will be plenty........including a trip on the Chuffer across the estuary to Grange :-)
Hope my fellow blippers who met at YSP today will forgive me standing them up in favour of a day out with my hub :-) x
Just going to watch the footie now...... probably a bowl of soup during half time after that lunch ;-)
Have a good weekend all
