The Third Test at Lords

Clouds and vapor trails above the grandstand at Lords on a beautiful summers day during the third test, England v South Africa.

England struggled with the experienced batsmen going cheaply leaving England struggling at 54-4. Ian Bell and Jonny Bairstow recovered the situation in the afternoon and evening sessions to finish 208-5. Bairstow having struggled against the fast bowling of the West Indies earlier in the year was peppered with short deliveries particularly by Morkle. He took it all in his stride weathered the storm and later on played some great shots eventually finishing unbeaten on 72.

From our seats in the Mound stand side on to the wicket the speed that Steyn and Morkle were bowling was very impressive. The speed that Bairstow got out the way of the bouncers directed at his head was equally impressive.
