Let me stand next to your fire...
When Eyjafjallajokull erupted in 2010 it caused havoc with air travel. It also created some new hills . The lava is still cooling and steaming round here. We stopped for lunch on a 3 year old hill which was still steaming. When you sat down on it it felt warm and you worried any plastic things you were wearing, may melt.
SR is a big fan of volcanoes and was pretty chuffed to see this new hill. But looking back at the photos we took, she is grinning like a cheshire cat on all of them
Pretty long day over 1000m up and down and 25k in distance, which took us about 10 hours, just made it in time for dinner, then a 3 hour coach journey back to Reykjavik for 1am then up again at 5:30 to pack, shower and get to the airport...
