Native Grass

Now, this one I KNOW to be a native.

We visited a regenerated bush area today - a place called Possum Park.  15 acres that used to be part of a sheep farm, completely returned to indigenous bush.  I know the owner slightly, and I also know he has been part of this landscape since 1976.  He has a small gallery of aerial images - 1976, 1986, 1996, and 2006.  The change is astounding.

Mind you he does have tunnel vision.  He regards anything that isn't native - an indigenous native at that (which means it should be growing naturally within a 10 km radius) as a weed.

Good job he's never likely to see my garden, he'd be appalled.

This is one of our most beautiful grasses, Austrostipa mollis

I couldn't decide whether to have this as my main image or the one I have put in extras.  This grass is bloody difficult to photograph, especially on a rainy windy day.
