Hard times
The usual slow start for the hills, it seems we take everything but the kitchen sink every time. There was quite a bit of traffic, as next Tuesday’s a holiday and people will be making a long weekend of it, so we got to the club quite late. Still, HH stayed in the hope of getting in a few holes. I came on home with the cat and the baggage and was delighted to arrange for the caretaker’s son to take our car and collect HH later, after doing his own shopping. Win-win situation, I thought – but it seems the whole family went with him and the shopping took so long that a friend brought HH home. She insisted on doing so, and I think it was because she wanted to share some bad personal news with someone. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer and it’s moving quite fast. Such a crushing blow, and it’s happening to so many of our friends (she being much younger than most of them). Is it the chemicals in the air, our food, the water? The pace of life? The fact that we’re living longer? Or just that many cases went undetected in the old days. Either way, it’s a tough road to travel, but she is reacting and getting things moving on the treatment front as quickly as possible. Our thoughts are with her and everyone who is faced with any cancer or serious illness or disability.
Spotted this caterpillar as I arrived at the house – I wonder what he’ll turn into?
