Bringing Them Home

Yesterday I did two tours at the hall before heading for the bell tower in the afternoon to help with the clearing up operation. On 24 Nov we are having a test ring of all ten bells. Hopefully at that point we will be given the go ahead to be allowed to ring the bells. A few days later the local branch of the Guild of Bell Ringers are due to have their AGM at the tower. If however we are not allowed to ring our bells then the meeting and supper will still take place here but ringing will be held at a neighbouring tower. We anticipate that if ringing takes place at our tower then there will be a large attendance as ringers will be eager to "grab" a new tower.

Ringing today was later than usual but we still managed to be late. Ringing on six bells had started when we arrived. However the tower captain was pleased to see us as it meant that all eight bells could be rung. Thus maintaining the record of all eight bells being rung every Sunday so far this year. Did I mention that bell ringers liked to keep meticulous records of everything?
