Pork pie
It seems a shame to post such a mundane blip on a rare trip to the UK, when I had dreams of Autumn sunshine in the parks filled with trees in their glorious colours, or reflections off the iconic buildings by the river, or any of the wonderful exhibitions and events. The weather and mental fatigue have conspired against these aims; the only time there was sunshine I was trapped in Primark with two shopping-obsessed daughters, and it was gone by the time we emerged, me in the usual fugue state of retail shock in noisy crowds.
For months now I have lusted after a Melton Mobray pork pie, so this was today's treat. It wasn't as good as I remembered.
