Sight and sound: sound

Had sight and hearing tested. Both are good. Sat in a funny acoustic box at Specsavers listening to the staff galumphing up some bouncy stairs. Lovely optometrists in Stockbridge persuaded me to spend lots on three sets of glasses. I had kept my last pair going with a string of increasingly desperate running repairs.

This is the path by the Water of Leith between Dean Village and Stockbridge. Stopped for a coffee in one of those knowing hipster Edinburgh coffee bars where you could get an 'overpoured' coffee - which seems to be a hand-poured hot water over filter job to bring out the tasting notes. I stuck with the latte but the barista kindly brought me a sample of overpour to try. It's like watery coffee but it does give full freedom to the delicacy of the coffee to come through if you are into coffee tasting.
