100 Hearts for 100 Years

These pincushions are currently on display in the Morning Chapel at Salisbury Cathedral. They are contemporary versions of the ones originally made by recuperating soldiers in WW1. The notice by the display says:
Sometimes known as a 'sweetheart', these moving mementoes made with love proved to be excellent therapy for troops recovering from the horrors they had experienced. The attention to detail helped them focus their scarred minds away from the sights and sounds that had impacted on them so dramatically.
