Historic Headland
That's how this place is described on the road signs,
Travelling to the NE for a flying visit today to a factory outlet in South Sheilds we had wonderful blue skies with wispy clouds all the way. Going up the A19 I happened to mention to Chris that I had never been to Hartlepool, he hadn't either so we went. ( Think this may be Kath Gordon country)
Much bigger than we had expected we followed the signs to the Historic Headland. I took this straight into the sun but rather like it.
We'd spotted a sign for the Royal Naval Museum so went back there seeking coffee. You couldn't miss the masts of HMS Trincomalee (a wonderful name I think ) which is Britain's oldest fighting ship still afloat apparently. The cafe was on the steam ship Wingfield Castle so we had a look around there too. It was in service as a ferry crossing the Humber until the 1970's.
It looked like a place we could have spent more time, may be another day.
Successful visit to the outlet and great skies again all the way home. A nice day out.
