Glen Coe
Back blip
The weather forecast was questionable, but with the attitude that “it can all change if you wait a few minutes” we set out today.
Down to Glen Coe and the chance to cross the Ballachulish bridge, rather than drive all the way round Loch Leven and through Kinlochleven.
The weather was perfect for the run through and back to see the scenery. Suitably refreshed we headed north back through Fort William and a hope of seeing Ben Nevis.
We took to mountain gondola up Aonach Mor. An attempt to walk to the view point wasn’t easy as it was blowing a gale. I had a quick look, but didn’t dare take my camera out of the bag in case it blew away. We did manage to meet a chap with three rescued huskies, who were gorgeous, and he obliged us we took a photo (in extras).
We continued up the road to Spean Bridge to see the Commando Memorial. A beautiful scene, well cared for. The picture (in extras) shows the beautiful scenery in the distance and a view from a dark place into a brighter future.
Finally, dinner out at a restaurant on the south edge of the town. Beautiful food, not excessively sized portions for a change, and very expensive! But if you consider what our supermarket meal cost last night, it all balances out.
Fort William is looking a bit under the weather on the main street. Empty shops, few shoppers, not like the old days :0(
