AFTERNOON STONECHAT

I took my cough for a quick trip around the bird sanctuary and saw lots of lovely things, including a pair of stonechats, a kestrel, a flock of barnacle geese, long-tailed tits, a water rail and too many more to mention. As I left people were gathering for the "soup and starlings" events, ready to watch the starlings coming into the reeds to roost, and there were flocks of whirling lapwings around all over the place too (see extra). I think I need a better camera for these short winter afternoons. Time to write to Santa...
