Waxwings

I went off on my favourite walk this morning to see the snow but just as I was lining up the shot (now included as an Extra photo) a bird flew up to my left and landed in a tree.  My thought was - I'm not sure that was a Starling ..... being a photographer today and not a birder meant no binoculars - so I had to walk towards it.  Then there were two and they were obviously friendly Waxwings posing for a photo :-)

Not seen any for several years so quite an unexpected treat.

Still snow on the tops and cold enough for Waxwings to arrive it would seem.
