Apples
13th November 2016:
This year we began the production of apples in our seedling programme.
We employés a new man Adamson from Mphompha, a region in the North in the direction the lake. Like his father he is an expert on apples.
We bought the rootstock about 500km south of here. The number bought was 5355 which were sown on the farm. Later they grafted scoins from Adamson's father in Mphompha and now it looks like they are all growing and blooming.
We had the Government Agency ICRAF onThursday to inspect the operation and they passed with flying colours, no surprise.
The numbers of seedlings available will be in the region of 38,000 for the new year planting, a phenomenal number, by any standards in any place.
The apples here in the picture are called Anna and taste amazing.
The majority of our new apples are this variety.
I am told that this is the largest number of apple seedling in one place anywhere in Malawi and I believe it. YIPPEE
