Alive alive oh
Last day of the holidays. Or so it feels.
We took a gamble on heading to The Gower for a day at the beach despite the weather and got lucky with sun.
It wasn't looking hopeful. The drive through Port Talbot brought the clouds almost down to the road.
We got coffee and pastries at Verdi's on the front at The Mumbles and then on to Oxwich Bay.
I got chatting to a bloke on his hands and knees at the shoreline and was introduced to the amazing world of cockle-picking. Well I thought it amazing anyway. I still have that reaction whenever it comes to free food.
Apparently we are all granted the right to gather up to eight pounds of cockles freely within the Magna Carta. Something they forgot to mention at school. I mean, free bivalves, how could you not mention a perk like that!
I'm right proud of my paltry haul. Half a child's bucket.
Tomorrow I shall eat them all with my six year old assistant.
