Thankful

I am writing this the day after the events and with the benefit of hindsight.
We hit a four inch wall of water that was draining off the fields and being channelled by a lane out onto the A38. The force of the water meant that it was largely forced into the outside lane.
Overtaking the lone car in front at about 60mph the car aquaplaned, hit the near side verge and spun out smashing into the central barrier.
Both Joshua and I got out of the badly damaged car unscathed - nothing short of miraculous!!
A Good Samaritan stopped and sheltered us in his car until the police, fire service and ambulance arrived. He then slipped away before we could get his details and thank him.
The recovery guy turned up at around two am and shortly afterwards Clare picked us up in Big Red.
Joshua and I arrived home at around four-fifteen am, tired, shocked, cold and wet but grateful to whatever guardian angel was with us.
Up at around midday in order for Joshua to play rugby. He had the game of his life and Falmouth beat Helston 61-0.
I spent the odd time during the day reliving last nights events through 'flashbacks'. We were incredibly fortunate, we weren't speeding, nothing was following behind us and 'Granny's' car looked after us.
I don't normally dwell upon "what if" but I have today.
