Ugg This!

According to my online encyclopedia, Ugg boots were made popular' by surfers(?) in Australia and/or New Zealand . . . blah, blah, etc, etc . . .

Jools, as is her wont, begs to differ. The idea, she says, came from alpacas, llama-type animals who like to keep their ankles warm after they've been clipped. The result is seen above: neat, clean uppers with shaggy bits around the feet. Just like Uggs (although, she informs me, this specimen definitely doesn't look like any surfer she saw when she was last in Australia - not that she was looking very closely, of course).

However, apart from the neat feet, she says, they seem to be as stupid as a pair of old boots: no matter how many times she cooed and called them, the herd of alpacas at a local farm wouldn't come close enough to stroke.

Probably thought she was after their footwear, I say, which proves they're not as daft as they look.
