Lake Tarawera

Lake Tarawera has been paradise today. I spent the morning water blasting the fence at Hermione Cottage.At 2ish ,Tarawera Times came through the back gate and said "What about a swim?" There wasn't a cloud in the sky and not another swimmer to be seen either as we cautiously stepped into the very cold water for our first plunge of the summer.The squealing gasps soon stopped and we had a blissfully refreshing swim out into the bay,around the island and home. There are so many birds about and we swam past lots of scaups and dab chicks and even watched a very busy shag which had caught a wee 6" trout and was struggling to get it swallowed before it escaped. Another swim on the programme for tomorrow.
