2016 Tuesday -- South Cayucos Beach
After a fairly lazy day, I like to think of it as leisurely, we harnessed the pups to their leashes and drove the short distance to our favorite beach, 21st Street, to walk the three pups.
The tide was quite high and the shore fairly deserted of people. Scattered randomly were piles of tangled ocean tubes and sea-weed and one shoreline fisherman walked alone to his choice of locations.
We often refer to this as "sand dollar beach" because we always find "dollars" along this shore and during some seasons walking without stepping on them is almost impossible. Today the dollars were few, but we did see some.
I do have a few student projects to grade during this week of holiday; a "Working Bibliography" was submitted by each student last week. I want to grade and then return them next week because I will collect their final writing project, an essay, and that will need immediate grading because the semester is just about to conclude.
This autumn semester has been good, very good, especially because I am not being evaluated as I was last spring. Next semester I will be the chairperson of a district committee --the PG&SL Committee (Professional Growth & Sabbatical Leave). It is a role I'd rather not have, but there are only two people from each of the three colleges in our district on the committee (6 faculty, 1 adminstrator, and 1 clerical person) and the role of chairperson rotates each year so all three colleges share the responsibility. This current school year, my campus/college has the chair duty and my partner Celia is chairperson this semester. Next semester, I am chair, but I don't want to worry about that today.
This has been a lovely, lazy, leisurely Tuesday and for that I am thankful.
