Out for a cycle this morning for Sunday papers and then onwards to bestest pal's house for juice, tea and flapjacks. This is her lovely garden - reminiscent of long, hot holidays in France that we enjoyed together as girls.

Going out to the Book Festival later on this afternoon to attend an event that will debate the value of higher education. One of the key questions to be discussed is whether the value of education can go beyond its contribution to the economy. With attendance from Mike Russell MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, it promises to be a lively debate.
