Lake of Menteith

The Lake of Menteith is often called Scotland's only lake (all others being lochs of course). Actually it isn't the only lake but it's the best known. It lies about 20 miles west of Stirling. We were in the Port of Menteith today to visit friends. We had a great walk with them at Aberfoyle golf course but not by the water so I was glad we'd stopped there first. Cold, very cold in fact, crisp, clear, still and blue as can be.
